Nucaps leads NUTRACAPS, a strategic project for healthy and sustainable nutrition from Navarre

For the first time, Nucaps is leading a strategic R&D project: NUTRACAPS. This ambitious project, developed by a consortium comprising Nucaps (leader), Iberfruta, Isanatur, Ingredalia, Ojer Pharma, Espiga I+D, UNAV, CNTA, and NAGRIFOOD, proposes innovative solutions based on nanoencapsulated bioactive compounds to address Metabolic Syndrome and improve wound healing.
NUTRACAPS combines natural functional ingredients and nutraceuticals, such as omega-6 fatty acids and quercetin, recognized for their anti-inflammatory properties, ability to reduce insulin resistance, and skin-repairing effects. Through nanoencapsulation, the efficacy and bioavailability of these compounds are optimized, enabling their use in oral products (nutraceuticals) and topical treatments. The project stands out for its commitment to the circular economy, reusing Navarre’s agri-food byproducts and exploring new natural sources, such as blackcurrant, which uniquely combines omega-6 fatty acids and quercetin. This sustainable approach promotes efficient resource use and positions b.
NUTRACAPS includes advanced in vitro and in vivo studies, as well as analyses of stability, safety, and economic viability to ensure the applicability of these solutions in food matrices and nutra/dermaceutical products. The project is co-funded by the Government of Navarre and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), reinforcing the region’s leadership in R&D+i.
With NUTRACAPS, Nucaps and its partners are betting on a future where health, sustainability, and technology converge to improve quality of life, showcasing Navarre’s potential as a benchmark for innovation.
