The prestigious Pharmaceutics Magazine publishes an investigation leaded by our Scientific Director Ana Brotons
The international magazine Pharmaceutics has published in its special supplement “Special Issue
The Study of Plant Compounds in Antioxidant Activity and Anticancer Activity” an article that includes the research led by our scientific director Ana Brotons.
Entitled ‘Encapsulated Phytomedicines against Cancer: Overcoming the “Valley of Death”’, the article talks about the development, in which NUCAPS has participated, of safe treatment, without side effects and that can be applied at home thanks to its consumption orally. A solution that has been elaborated through the natural extract of a Colombian plant from NUCAPS has been microencapsulated with protein and tested with food ingredients thanks to which it has been possible to reduce the possibilities of metastasis of certain types of cancer, in this case of breast cancer. This is a joint effort between NUCAPS and the Javeriana University of Bogotá and the Colombian company Dreembio.
The research has been led by our scientific director Ana Brotons and by Dr. Susana Fiorentino, who received the award for the best Colombian researcher last year. The development of the research has been financed by the Ibero-American Development Bank, BID, which carried out an international search for the best technology for the product through Connect Bogotá.
Together with our Scientific Director, Ana Brotons, doctors Ana Luisa Martínez, Edurne Luque, and Izaskun Imbuluzqueta, from our product development team, have also participated in the development of the research.
